The Certified Nurses Aide performs direct and indirect patient care services under the direct supervision of licensed staff.
Supports Hospital's mission to provide the highest quality care by complying with regulatory guidelines, meeting agency standards, and obtaining appropriate certification.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Ensures quality and safe delivery of resident care.
2.
Participates in the interdisciplinary team meetings and reports observations and makes appropriate recommendations.
3.
Actively participates in the implementation of direct resident care in accordance with the care plan.
4.
Completes daily resident assignments efficiently.
5.
Accountable for resident safety throughout their shift.
6.
Provides supervision of assigned residents and accountable for location of resident throughout shift.
7.
Ensures resident's overall appearance reflects good personal hygiene and appropriate dress.
8.
Promotes age appropriate independence on ADLs.
9.
Ensues the residents living environment is neat, clean, and well-organized.
10.
Ensures optimal nutrition and hydration of the resident by assisting in feeding as per care plan.
11.
Accurately documents TPR, I & O, heights/weights and all important data as directed by unit routine.
12.
Promptly reports changes in resident status to staff nurse/nurse manager.
13.
Communicates resident’s status to staff nurse/nurse manager when reporting off unit for breaks and end of shift.
14.
Engages residents in age appropriate socialization/stimulation.
15.
Collaborates with therapeutic activity staff.
16.
Escorts residents to ACF/clinic appointments as assigned and is responsible for having clinic consult form filled out and returned.
17.
Accurately identifies resident/environmental /personal belongings.
18.
Reports all broken and malfunctioning equipment immediately to staff nurse/nurse manager.
19.
Maintains a clean, well-organized work environment.
20.
Initiates the admissions process by greeting the resident in the lobby, escorts to unit, orients to room and assist in vital signs, height, and weight.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
21.
Collaborates with environmental services to ensure adequate clean clothes are available.
22.
Accompanies patients on outside trips, and activities as needed with therapeutic activities staff/school.
23.
Actively seeks out opportunities to enhance present knowledge.
24.
Participates in unit based quality improvement activities.
25.
Assists Nurse or Doctor in procedures as needed
Formal education required:
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Successful completion of 100 hours Nurses Aide Training Program.
Certified Nurses Aide by State of NY.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Previous experience required:
One year experience in Medical Surgical / Pediatrics preferred.
