Position Overview:
Blue Sea Education is currently seeking a certified Reading Specialist and/or certified Special Education teacher to join our team as a Special Education and Literacy Coordinator.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Assist Learning Director with recruitment, retention, and support of learning providers consistent with company policies.
* Plan and participate in departmental activities within approved budget on an annual school-year basis.
* Plans related professional development in compliance with NYS approved provider CTLE requirements.
* Follow departmental operating strategies, goals, and objectives.
* Provide General and/or Special Education direct instruction to meet the needs of students as outlined in the student's IEP.
* Maintain data collection and recordings of student progress.
* Evaluate student progress and update programming in accordance with IEP.
* Exhibit professional behavior toward students, families, coworkers, school personnel and supervisors.
Requirements:
* NYS reading/Literacy Specialist preferred
* NYS Special Education Certified; NYS General Education Certified required
* Trained in programs such as: Orton Gillingham, Wilson Level 1, SPIRE, Seeing Stars, Sonday, Lindamood Bell, IMSE preferred
* previous professional experience providing in home and/or in school academic instruction preferred
