Assistant Toddler Teacher

*Early Childhood Assistant Teacher* Kids by the Bunch is a privately owned and operated Early Learning Childcare Center located in Syosset, New York.
We care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years during the school year, and children 5 - 12 years of age for Summer Camp.
Position Description: We are currently seeking a nurturing and caring Assistant Toddler Teacher to complete our Toddler Team, who is enthusiastic about caring for young children.
This is a full-time and permanent position.
The Assistant Teacher supports the Group Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education.
The Assistant Teacher must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment.
The Assistant Teacher supports the Teachers in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Assistant Teacher observes and documents children’s interest and progress, and relays that information back to staff.
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities, based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher.
*Key Responsibilities* · Assist in the implementation of curriculum activities and encourage participation by children.
· Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
· Maintain communications with families through informal discussions.
· Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center and vice versa.
· Provide emotional and behavioral support to children by creating a positive environment that supports emotional connections between children and adults and between children and their peers.
· Must have a positive attitude and be flexible to fit the needs of the children and center.
· Follow all center policies and state regulations.
· Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
*Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience* · Must be at least 18 years of age.

· Upon hire, must participate in all trainings required by OCFS/NYCDOHM *Desired * · One year of experience working with children less than 13 years of age.
· High energy.
· Ability to work well with others.
· Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills · An understanding of child development.
· Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
