Bird sculpture by famous Chicago artist Frederic Cooper who was active in the 1920's.
The sculpture shows a pair of cranes ( large birds similar to egrets and herons ) engaged in courtship.
The male bows deeply to the female while displaying his wings trying to impress her while the female's pose is aloof and uninterested.
There are truly remarkable similarities between human and animal relationship rituals displayed by these sculptures.
The subservient pose of the male also seems to say what every male in a relationship finds himself saying sooner or later and that is "Yes Dear!" The sculptures are made of solid brass and have a Frederick Cooper label on the bottom.
