This wooden smoker stand has a neat flip table and was made by the H.
T.
Cushman Manufacturing Co.
, which was founded in 1889.
It has an original label/sticker that says, “Cushman Smoker, No.
Bennington, Vermont.
” It is a beautiful piece of furniture and piece of history.
It has withstood the test of time and you'll probably never see another one like it.
This vintage treasure has metal holders for matches and cigarette packs or tobacco cans.
It also has an indent for an ash tray.
Cushman used native Vermont hardwoods such as mahogany.
This piece seems to be made of walnut.
It has brass hardware, including hinges and a working clasp that locks the flip table in place horizontally.
Slide the clasp and the table flips up to use less floor space.
In the 1910s and 1920s, Cushman Manufacturing introduced smoking accessories, including humidors and stands in the 1910s and 1920s.
It remained in business until 1980.
I'm conservatively dating this smoker stand to the 1930s.
This stand remains in outstanding condition with no damage and no unsightly scratches, and no cracks, holes, dents to speak of.
It appears to have its original finish and nice patina.
It shows gorgeous routing on the flat edges.
The spindles are nice and strong.
The table (19” x 16”) flips down easily and has handsome gold stenciling showing a rose.
The surface of the table is in rather pristine condition.
The stenciling shows aging and crazing, but has lost little of its original paint.
The metal holders show typical light surface tarnishing for an item from decades ago.
Overall, a beauty!
The stand measures 19” x 34” x 12.

If you don’t count the stand’s feet, it’s 6.

The table measures 19” x 16”.
It weighs about 11 lb.
